Biography:
Ryuk is a Shinigami, or God of Death, from the manga and anime series Death Note. He first appears in the initial chapter and episode of the series, titled "Rebirth."
Bored with the monotony of the Shinigami Realm, Ryuk intentionally drops his Death Note into the human world, hoping to alleviate his boredom. This Death Note is subsequently found by Light Yagami, a brilliant high school student.
Ryuk follows Light throughout the series, initially as an observer. He explains the rules of the Death Note to Light but remains mostly neutral, stating that he is simply there to be entertained by Light's actions and the events that unfold.
He is characterized by his lanky appearance, grotesque features, sharp teeth, and fondness for apples, which are a rare treat in the Shinigami Realm. He often breaks the fourth wall, addressing the audience directly, and is known for his eerie laughter.
